Foothills Land Conservancy’s 2009 Fall Conservation Celebration

Foothills’ annual Celebration, held November 12th at Dancing Bear Lodge, exceeded all of our expectations! On behalf of the FLC Board & Staff we would like to thank our 2009 sponsors, host committee members, and all the other guests that came out to celebrate and support East Tennessee land conservation programs. A big thank you also goes out to Dancing Bear Lodge, they provided a perfect fall location along with wonderful service, food and decorations.

This year’s event was special indeed – FLC celebrated two Blount County easement signings totaling over 800 acres preserved, we presented Gail Harris with the Conservationist of the Year award, and reported the good news that by year’s end FLC should be 1300 acres away from completing our ’25 in 25 Campaign’! This campaign was launched a few years ago to promote our goal of reaching 25,000 acres preserved and protected by our 25th birthday next year.

Since 1985 Foothills Land Conservancy’s mission has been to protect, preserve, and enhance the lands and associated environments of East Tennessee and to promote the character of the region for the benefit of the general public. From watersheds to farmland, ridge tops to open fields; FLC has provided resources and assistance to both individuals and families ranging from 1,000 acre farms to 5 acres for a city park.
